Mountain Bike Shorts Image

Mountain Bike Shorts - Ride Longer and Stay Comfortable

A comfortable padded short ("Knicks"), the padding ("chamois") reduces pressure on sensitive areas and should be worn without underwear to prevent chafing.

Cycling jerseys are made from technical fabrics that wick the sweat away from your body, unlike cotton which remains damp, short sleeve as well as long sleeve jersey will keep the sun off your arms and a quality waterproof jacket with a base layer, many have zip-off arms, means they can be turned into extremely useful gilets.

Mountain Bike Gloves - for Comfort and Safety

When you ride, your hands can take a beating. Your hands are also one of the first things to come down to the ground when you crash. I recommend full-fingered gloves over the cutoff finger type. Don't get caught red handed.

Mountain Bike Shoes Image

Mountain Bike Shoes - Pedal More Efficiently and Keep Comfortable

It is more efficient to cycle in stiff-soled cycling shoes with cleats that attach to the pedals, particularly for longer distances.

If you are using a clipless pedal and shoe system, make sure you are comfortable with clipping in and out your pedals.

If you hire a mountain bike from us our bike come with Crank Brother pedals. If you use a pedal system different to this, we recommend you bring your own pedals that can then be fitted to your bike.

Mountain Bike Eye Ware Image

Eye Protection - Protect Your Vision from Wind, Bugs, and Dirt

Something in your eye can run you right off the trail and into trouble. Eye protection such as sunglasses or clear-lenses glasses help keep your eyes free from debris as well as protect them from the wind that can cause your eyes to tear and blur your vision. Make sure you use non-breakable lenses for safety.

Mountain Biking Hydratiom Image

Hydration System - Keep Yourself Hydrated for Better Energy and Health

Cycling in general and particularly in warm conditions, requires you to drink plenty of water, you will be provided with water bottles for your exclusive use during the trip. We highly recommend taking a hydration backpack such as a Camelback or similar product, particularly on our longer trips.

Mountain Bike Helmet Image

Helmets

It is compulsory to wear a helmet when cycling in South Africa; your helmet should be light weight and well ventilated to keep your head cool, helmet is also supplied, however you may also bring your own.

These mountain bikes have dual suspension, with lock out fork's and rear shock to aid progression when climbing and riding on smoother surfaces. All our bikes come standard with CRANK BROTHER pedals.
