Mountain Biking Mini Peninsula Loop
Starting the Ride on Table Mountain Slopes
Our mountain bike Mini Peninsula Loop begins on the iconic slopes of Table Mountain. Notably, this natural playground has repeatedly served as the stage for the Cape Epic prologue, highlighting its world-class terrain and enduring appeal.
From Table Mountain to Tokai Forest
The first part of our journey takes us on a short but exciting 30km of mixed track conditions all the way to Tokai Forest. Starting at Table Mountain lower cable car station, the tared road soon becomes dirt, descending towards Cape Town university. The first 15km is short but exciting all along the face of the mountain. A couple of steep loose descents and technical sections will test your bravery and skill in equal measure. Riding beyond Rhodes Memorial, through Groote Schuur Estate, Cecilia Forest before reaching the suburban trail of Constantia greenbelt. The trails along the greenbelt offer a little bit of everything, from the odd dip into fully covered forest to a smooth manicured trail. Â Reaching late morning, Tokai pitstop to refuel with coffee and food.
Climbing Constantiaberg and Entering Silvermine
The second part of our day start with the gradual ascent up the flanks of Constantiaberg. The moderate incline of the trail soon becomes a steep climb through sections of pine plantations before getting into the Silvermine Nature Reserve, home to more than 900 species of mountain fynbos. You now leave the forest and ride along a contour path. The wide-open spaces allow you to take in views of the Cape Flats, False Bay and Cape Point before reaching the Nature reserve. From here it’s another rough and rocky downhill jeep track crossing over the west side of the peninsula. You will be brave enough to leave the brakes alone!
Chapman’s Peak and the Coastal Finale
The last part of our journey takes us along scenic tared coastal road. Starting with the world-renowned Chapman’s Peak route. A challenging and picturesque ride starting from Noordhoek and climbing steeply up to Chapman’s Peak viewpoint. What goes up must come down! If you’ve conquered that big hill, it is time to enjoy the reward of flying down the other side. Reaching the Hout Bay neighborhood and our final off-road section before a tared liaison along the Atlantic coastline and the 12 Apostles back to Cape Town.
A fantastic adventure and an unforgettable experience.

Had ample time for shopping and lunch. A wonderful stop @ Boulders Beach to visit penguins and a love at first site to see Simons Town. Was sad to leave at the end of the day. Any tour would be great but I’d say full days are the greatest. Going back to Cape Town I’d book everyday with him. Thank you Patrick for being amazing keep on being you as you are simply the best.

I had the pleasure to (try) the “Mini” peninsula all day tour. Patrick met me at the lower table car station at Table Mountain to start the tour. I was… read more his only guest, so we had lot’s of time to chat. Being in CT for 30 years and doing mtb for more than 15, Patrick definitely knows the ins and outs and is a very good guide.
The views and impressions, but also the inside informations on the tour were very special and even though I had to realise I would not make it back to the cable car station (I was around 250 / 1500 altitude meters short…), I still loved every meter I rode.
Patrick was kind enough to go on on his self to get his car, after which he fetched me and brought me to my car.
In a nutshell: Patrick is a very nice and fit guy you enjoy being around with that knows the Cape very well. I can recommend booking him–should I be travelling to CT again, I will do so myself!
