Cape Escape Mountain Biking Tours EST. 1995
About This Tour
Your adventure begins with a convenient hotel pickup before transferring to Hout Bay, where your guide will ensure your bike is perfectly fitted and provide a comprehensive safety and route briefing. Once you’re ready, set off on an unforgettable cycling journey around the spectacular Cape Peninsula.
The ride begins on the iconic Chapman’s Peak Drive, widely regarded as one of the world’s most scenic coastal roads. Climb the winding mountain pass to a breathtaking viewpoint overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, with time to capture memorable photos before enjoying an exhilarating descent into Noordhoek, where sweeping views of Long Beach await.
From Noordhoek, continue across the peninsula through Fish Hoek to the historic naval town of Simon’s Town, where you’ll visit the famous African penguin colony at Boulders Beach. From there, continue south into the spectacular Cape Point Nature Reserve, one of South Africa’s most celebrated protected areas. Ride through pristine fynbos landscapes, with opportunities to spot wildlife, as you make your way to the legendary Cape of Good Hope, the iconic southwestern tip of the Cape Peninsula.
The route then continues to Cape Point, where you’ll enjoy a well-deserved lunch while taking in dramatic sea cliffs, endless ocean vistas, and the historic lighthouse—one of the most spectacular viewpoints in South Africa.
After lunch, leave the reserve and follow the scenic road along the coastline of Cape Point Nature Reserve before climbing the winding ascent of Red Hill. Enjoy a rewarding descent through Simon’s Town and Fish Hoek before crossing the peninsula back to Noordhoek.
To end the day on a high, conquer one final climb along the legendary Chapman’s Peak Drive, where the late afternoon light and spectacular coastal scenery make for an unforgettable finale. From the summit, enjoy a thrilling descent back into Hout Bay, arriving as the sun begins to set over the Atlantic Ocean.
At the end of your ride, your guide will transfer you back to your hotel, bringing an incredible day of cycling through Cape Town’s most iconic coastal landscapes to a memorable close.

Cape Escape Tours has to be the best tour you could ever be on. Patrick makes your day. On timepick up, polite, knowledgeable, great driver. understands… read more the client, responds to any request, flexible. Full day tour to the cape of good hope with a great hike to the lighthouse. Had ample time for shopping and lunch. A wonderful stop @ Boulders Beach to visit penguins and a love at first site to see Simons Town. Was sad to leave at the end of the day. Any tour would be great but I’d say full days are the greatest. Going back to Cape Town I’d book everyday with him. Thank you Patrick for being amazing keep on being you as you are simply the best.

I had the pleasure to (try) the “Mini” peninsula all day tour. Patrick met me at the lower table car station at Table Mountain to start the tour. I was… read more his only guest, so we had lot’s of time to chat. Being in CT for 30 years and doing mtb for more than 15, Patrick definitely knows the ins and outs and is a very good guide.
The views and impressions, but also the inside informations on the tour were very special and even though I had to realise I would not make it back to the cable car station (I was around 250 / 1500 altitude meters short…), I still loved every meter I rode.
Patrick was kind enough to go on on his self to get his car, after which he fetched me and brought me to my car.
In a nutshell: Patrick is a very nice and fit guy you enjoy being around with that knows the Cape very well. I can recommend booking him–should I be travelling to CT again, I will do so myself!

Spectacular Mountain Biking Experience in Cape Town and Wine Country – My wife and I had an amazing ride with Patrick both along Table Mountain and then a few days later in Paarl on some excellent single track and Jeep trails.… read more The varied fauna and spectacular views left us hungry to go back and continue to ride with such a great guide. Both trips included high-end dual suspension mountain bikes and ended at lovely wineries which served excellent lunches. Patrick will be one of the first people we contact when we return to Cape Town – I couldn’t recommend a guide more highly.
